Thespian Government
I won the election for Barnstormers Theatre Club President!!!! I am so excited, and have a lot of ambition for the club. I am also very excited about my officers- Anderson, my dear friend and director of the play, is VP; Emily, who takes amazing notes and knows lots of helpful people, is secretary; and Anton, who is brand new to all of us but amazing just the same, is treasurer.
As result of being elected President I had to attend my first Student Government Association meeting this afternoon. Anton came with me, which was very comforting since I have limited exposure to the SGA and he has none. :p The SGA takes itself very seriously, and the meeting is run in an orderly and professional fashion. Order is reassuring and being a part of campus activities is exciting, so I liked it.
The auditions for "I Hate Hamlet" are over, and this evening I had the pleasure of calling four people to tell them they were cast. We're still looking to fill two roles, one male and one female. We have a good prospect of filling them by the end of this week.
I'm tired, but it's still early and I really need organize my notes for the club and work on a paper for English class. It's a personal exploration paper...it's an uncanny time for me to have to work on such a thing :-/ but hopefully it'll be a successful process.

Thoughts and Games
Keeping up this blog, plus a personal journal, plus journals for three of my classes, plus homework is going to be challenge! So I'm sorry if the frequency of my posts slows throughout the next few months. (I know, I know, you're all so disappointed!)
Speaking of homework, I haven't done much of that yet. Being back in school still feels like a novelty and I'm still wrapped up in the theatre production and not in the swing of things yet. My first English paper is due in two weeks. I took a short quiz in math last week and I aced it; I'm hoping to do the same tomorrow. We have two-question quizzes every Thursday to reinforce the material and help pad our grade. I'm all for that! Myself and two classmates performed a short acting assignment in class today, which we got really positive feedback for. I'm amazed at and enjoying the creativity and camaraderie we have in our class.
"I Hate Hamlet" auditions are tomorrow and I'm all ready to help Anderson (the director) with those. All our promoting seems to be paying off; we've gotten phone calls back from our posted flyers, and had several one-on-one conversations with interested people.
In small group with Pastor we're finishing up our study on the book of Revelation. God and His plan for the future blow my mind away! The things in that book are both amazing and terrifying. I'm a little over halfway through the Gospel of John, and haven't been able to read as often as I wanted to. The thought that constantly strikes me is that I wish I could audibly hear how Jesus said some of those things. I wonder about His tone; His mannerisms; the dynamics of the situation in which he spoke. I suppose we could just guess based on His character and what He was saying, and the rest isn't important. However He did it was perfection, and there's no way we can comprehend that right now. Ryan posed an interesting question the other day- Did Jesus and His disciples laugh? Did they play practical jokes on one another, and just pal around the way we do with our best friends?
Speaking of paling around, I had some great opportunities for fun lately! On Saturday I went on the youth group snow tubing trip. It was so much fun spending a few hours simply sliding down an icy hill, screaming and laughing! On Monday night was Alyssa's birthday party at Pump It Up which Jenn had invited Shannon and I to. I had a great time "chaperoning", which was simply an excuse to bounce around, laugh, and play with little ones. All the little guests were so cute and fun to play with! Jenn, I bet you got some great pictures; can't wait to see them!

Wonderful Week

My first week back at school is over, and it was certainly a whirlwind, in a good way. I reconnected with most of my friends from last semester, and already met some new people. My classes are great, each in their own way. I can say this even about math, because the professor is vast improvement over the one I had last semester! Holistic health is a little weird; the teacher has this irritating "yoga instructor" voice and led us in a meditation exercise which left myself and the friend I'm taking the class with agitated (the direct opposite of what we were supposed to feel, haha). But I'm still interested in the topic, so it'll be good. English is going to be interesting. Many of the people from my Engl 101 class are in this class, so there is already a feeling of comraderie. The professor is young, hilarious, and very well traveled and educated. Most of the class material is going to be about world religion and exploration. A little odd for a composition class, but will make for good debating and critical thinking. A guy I met this week took this class last semester and is lending me a $50 book, serious score there!
Acting is, of course, FANTASTIC! Carl is still my favourite professor and I can tell this semester in his class is going to be even better than the last. On Monday we did some simple games and role playing exercise. On Wednesday we were to come prepared with an autobiography about ourselves. Before we read them, he had us lay on the floor (on yoga mats; our class meets in the dance studio), turned out all the lights (there are large windows in the room), while he talked to us about importance to the actor of relaxation and living life in the moment. He read us some poetry, a little from Macbeth, and even a little from the Bible (though most of the students wouldn't have picked up on that), and played and sang with his guitar. All of this may sound a little freaky, but I found it very uplifting and relaxing because I trust what Carl has to say. After that, he said we could sit in a circle and read our autobiographies to each other. I say all this to lead up to the fact that I had been very nervous to read mine, but after our "relaxation" time all my fear was gone. It was the first time I can remember reading or sharing something with a large group and not having my voice shake! That's a goal met for me, without even trying on my part. I feel that everyone is starting to bond and we've got some real talent in class. I'm eyeing a couple of them for "I Hate Hamlet" and have been promoting the show around campus.
There are various campus activities in addition to the play that I'm looking to get involved in, and I got the unofficial word that I've been accepted into the Honors Society! Now if I could just feel in the swing of things and actually do my homework, everything would be perfect. :p And yes, I did go to all three of my jobs this week; I love to be busy and have accepted the fact that I thrive on challenge (more about that another time...)

Super Sunday
I had such a great day! :) Church was good this morning; throughout the group discussion in Sunday School, singing, communion, the sermon, and even a little time in the nursery I just felt really refreshed. Josh W. was visiting again, and he encouraged me concerning some family issues I've been dealing with. I had a helpful talk with Michele too, about having friends who share different worldviews and how to handle that.
Ryan and I spent the afternoon at my house, and he helped me finish my chore list! I feel incredibly lucky to have a b/f who will help me clean my room, do my laundry, cook, and make it all fun in the process! So now I can go back to school with my check list crossed off (for the most part ;).
This evening Pastor Alan and Esther hosted the Super Bowl party and that was a lot of fun. Ry and I came early to help them set up, and about 25 people from church came to cheer on the Cardinals...except for one lady who is a Steelers fan, and her husband who had lost a bet to her and had to cheer for the Steelers! It was hilarious to watch. :) Everyone had a great time of laughing, screaming, eating and taking pictures (where Stephanie is, pictures are bound to happen!) That game was amazing! But the way the game ended made me feel bad for the Cardinals quarterback.
So the day left me feeling happy and refreshed, ready to take on my first week of crazyness known as Spring Semester! I'll still be blogging...I'm going to have down time in between my classes, and plan to take a little of it to go off by myself to read, write, w/e, just to have some chill time to keep my focus right.
